Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Monica O Jackson’s dedication, professionalism and love for the industry have driven her throughout the years to become one of the most sought-after experts in her field.
With her hometown among the top-10 markets in the country it was no wonder that the young journalist’s passion was fueled as she pursued her dream career. In 1995, her budding talent was welcomed to the team of one of the leading radio stations in the city, WCHB.
The station originally hired Jackson as the afternoon news anchor for the John Arnold News/Talk Show on the AM dial. However, after only two days on the air, management immediately recognized her natural talent and ability to engage listeners therefore inviting Jackson to join
the morning show on the FM side. She worked as the morning news anchor, as well as a morning show personality for almost half a decade. Her presence on the team was an immediate success and the show known as “The Breakfast Jam” made it to the No. 2 spot in the ratings in less than one year.
Despite her love for being a part of the morning team at WCHB, Jackson wanted to pursue her career in TV news. In 1996, her infectious personality was recognized by Fox 2 News in Detroit. They invited her to join the morning news team as the in-studio traffic anchor. After six short months at Fox 2 the team at Detroit’s WXYZ Channel 7 stole her away identifying her talent and wanting to top their competitor. Thus began Jackson’s in-demand TV career as stations around the country vied for her contract. The next stop on Jackson’s journey was as morning traffic anchor at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Emmy Award winning journalist and news anchor, Monica O. Jackson launched her own talk/reality show on social media platforms in November of 2018. The shows are recorded LIVE from DragonRidge Country Club, in Henderson, Nevada.
After more than 20 years of building the MOJ brand, the decision was made to leave her anchor post at FOX5 News in Las Vegas. Monica’s dream of having her own national talk show was finally in sight. The kickoff of the Fall 2018 podcast served as the pre-launch to MOJ’s national talk/reality show, which is scheduled to debut in the Fall of 2019.
The weekly MOJ Show Audio Podcasts compliment the monthly MOJ show pilots. These podcasts focus on the talent, people and opportunities found in the great City of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The show features interviews with celebrities, community leaders and local business leaders that make Southern Nevada their base camp. The one-hour program includes news stories and subject matter, driven by the open, sincere and powerful interviews that Monica’s audience loves and respects.
Across the years, and at different stations, Monica’s passion for her profession was supported by her true love and high school sweetheart – turned husband, Delano. The two are a powerhouse team working together to further one another’s success and happiness. Delano’s career with the Air Force led to many moves over the years including Ogden, Utah where Jackson received her degree from Weber State University. In April 2006, the couple became the proud parents of their son, D’Artagnan Mancel Jackson. Despite numerous awards, career accomplishments and more, D’Artagnan is the most important part of their lives.
In her spare time, the accomplished broadcaster dedicates her energy to giving back to numerous charitable organizations through her H.A.R.M.ony (Hope And Relief Mission) segment of the MOJ Show.
